Three ways to spend your weekend: Jan. 21-23, 2022

Options include specials on local cuisine, wildlife hikes and the performing arts.

The good news is that the weekend weather is supposed to be largely precipitation-free, though chilly. If you’re looking for something interesting to do, consider any of these three options around the Richmond Highway corridor:

  1. Enjoy good food. Order dinner specials from local restaurants participating in Alexandria Restaurant Week. From Jan. 21-30, more than 60 restaurants are offering special menus, including in-person and/or to-go options. Among other participating eateries are Cedar Knoll on Lucia Lane and Dishes of India at Belle View Shopping Center.
  2. Search for tundra swans. Mason Neck State Park in Lorton has a variety of activities this weekend, including a tundra swan hike, Audubon bird walk, and a hike to view resident beavers. The Audubon event on Saturday morning requires advance registration.
  3. Attend live theater. This is the final weekend for Aldersgate Church Community Theater’s youth production of “Once Upon a Mattress,” a spin on the classic “Princess and the Pea” tale. Information and tickets are available via the website.
