On Thursday, May 5, Fort Belvoir will hold the grand opening of its new Army Advocacy Center, the DOD’s first-ever centralized training facility that will provide advocacy training to the Army’s legal professionals.
Located at what used to be the garrison’s Kawamura Human Performance Center, the 9,300 square-foot facility on Gunston Road will offer training courses in civil and military justice litigation for members of the Army Judge Advocate General Corps, and feature seven state-of-the-art courtrooms for training and mock trials, according to Fort Belvoir Public Affairs.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and a small-business contractor constructed the $7 million facility, which will hold its first classes May 9.
Fort Belvoir will cover the center’s opening on Facebook Live at 10 a.m. on May 5.
